Los Angeles-based DJ and producer Masha Mar reveals her love for house and vintage synthesisers in sophomore EP Cherry Cherry for SOS Music. Championing female and gender minority producers worldwide, Maddy Maia and Tottie’s label was home to Masha’s debut release in 2020, a rolling retro cut that sits alongside records from Nene H, LCY, rRoxymore, Hinako Omori and Umfang. Since then, follow up singles came through Dusk Recordings and Femme House, before her debut EP hit Night Prism’s shelves in 2022.

On the EP, Masha said: "Cherry Cherry is a celebration of femme power in all its diverse and vibrant nuances. The female voice comes through in every track from Ah-Mer-Ah-Su's longing vocals on the single 'Cherry Cherry', to Jane's house of motivation on ‘U Can Do It’, a woman questioning her state of being in ‘Pain Relief’ and even my own on voice on 'Respira Profundo', breathing deeply. I’m proud to release this collection of tracks on SOS Music. It’s such an inspiring label that encourages and supports total freedom of expression."

Utilizing her Roland 808 on every track, the EP kicks off with Italo-leaning ‘Cherry Cherry’, which smacks with feverish desire, bringing in these longing vocals from US vocalist, producer, and DJ Ah-Mer-Ah-Su. ‘Pain Relief’ is an ode to late ‘90s deep house, and it packs a hypnotic groove with a breakdown that evokes the sensation of pain subsiding. Poised to empower, ‘U Can Do It’ is all motivational vocals, uplifting chords, and euphoric strings set above a driving Moog Voyager bassline. ‘Respira Profundo’ closes with a blend of Italian and Chicago house, and a Paranoid London-esque bassline with 909 drums and Masha on vocals. Its message is to breathe deeply and live mindfully amidst the late-night party bubble.
